he Connecticut Oncology Association is pleased to partner with its Charter Oak corporate members to offer selected webinar presentations to CtOA members in addition to our regular meetings.  This program is presented by Dawn Holcombe, MBA, FACMPE, ACHE, on behalf of Genentech, a Charter Oak member of the Connecticut Oncology Association.

·       The presentation addresses a real access issue for cancer patients, Helping Patients Understand Their Health Insurance Options.  It provides information on how to discuss health insurance options with patients during open enrollment or other times when a patient could be evaluating his or her options for potential change in insurance.  The presentation includes the following modules:

  • Understanding Health Insurance Options - explores different options patients have for getting health insurance coverage.
  •  Evaluating Health Insurance Options - highlights some of the reasons why patients may be evaluating their health insurance options and what to expect if a patient gets a new plan.
  • Tips for Discussing Health Insurance Options with Patients - discusses helpful tips for having a conversation about health insurance options with patients including - how to set up discussions about health insurance, how to answer common questions, and resources for practices to learn more about evaluating health insurance options.
  •  Case Studies:  Having Patience Discussions - illustrates different scenarios in which patients may consider changing their health insurance coverage.

This unique Charter Oak Partner presentation are limited only to all CtOA oncology practice members: the physicians, admin and staff of oncology and guest medical groups, but not Corporate Partners.  We appreciate your understanding of this select audience parameter.  General CT Oncology Association meetings/webinars will remain open to all medical and corporate partner members.

Please stay tuned for continuation of this CT Oncology Association Lunchtime Webinar Series on Patient Support Resources with more fall presentations on additional resources.  Please also save the date for Thursday December 9, when we present Bobbi Buell, speaking on “Get Ready for 2022”, a program on coding and reimbursement challenges for physicians and practices.  This will be presented from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, virtually, and we plan to resume in person meetings during 2022.

Stay healthy, and we will see each other soon!
